He created the United States Forest Service, established 150 national forests, 51 federal bird reserves (today's national wildlife refuges managed by the USFWS), 4 national game preserves, 5 national parks, and 18 national monuments.

A famous 3-day campout with John Muir in the Yosemite Valley ended with Roosevelt protecting additional lands in what is now the Yosemite Valley.

He became president at age 42 and is still the youngest president we have ever had!
